The Sharks Academy Rugby Elite Programme

3 weeks duration during July and August ONLY.

For the serious rugby player who wants to know exactly where he stands in terms of his true potential. This exclusive experience offers a glimpse of the world of professional rugby at this Super 14 team, based at the ABSA Stadium, Durban. This 3 week intensive course is designed and run by the staff of the World Class Sharks Academy and will develop young rugby talent into balanced individuals and possible future professionals. Equip individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills that are required for a career in the rugby world. Offer a unique, well-balanced programme of rugby skills, conditioning training, life skills and vocational education.

Make no mistake this is a serious undertaking and will test even the most talented of players. July 2010 – Full International course. Rugby training will focus predominantly on developing and improving core rugby skills, position specific skills as well as team play. Players will be put on a professionally prepared Physical Conditioning Program and will work out daily in the gym. The coaching sessions will be conducted predominantly by Academy Coaches; guest lecturers in the past have included John Smit, Beast Mtawarira and Percy Montgomery.  Players will be provided with a range of training and other clothing and rugby kit, including rugby jersey, golf  shirt, t-shirts, fleece top, and casual & gym shorts.  Meals will be supplied. Excursions will be provided to a number of Durban's attractions. Accommodation is arranged with host families in Durban. Medical insurance is provided (travel insurance must be arranged personally).
